An interview with the creator of Blogging & Podcasting Magazine.
I am certainly interested in Blogging & Podcasting, and am excited to read the first issue of the magazine, which will launch on April 2007! 1. How did the idea for Blogging & Podcasting Magazine come about? - I cut my teeth in publishing from the trade magazine business. Last spring I was working on publishing our first book on podcasting called “Promoting Your Podcast” by Jason Van Orden when Robert Scoble (who was reviewing the book to consider writing the foreword…which he did) pointed out that the books advice was extremely relevant to bloggers too. It then dawned on me that this market is huge (approx. 80,000 podcasters and over 50,000,000 bloggers), powerful and has absolutely no trade magazine. It was kind of like “getting hit with the obvious stick.” 2. What should readers expect from the magazine?- It is a trade magazine for serious bloggers & podcasters. Our readers are interested in things like: monetization strategies, marketing/promotion tactics, new blogging & podcasting technology, how to get better at their craft, and feature stories that allow them to learn from their peers. So, that’s what we’ll be giving them in each issue. 3. Will it be available online and in print? Each issue will be available in 3 formats: Print, digital and podcast. The technology we’re using for our digital edition is very cool. It gives a magazine like experience with pages flipping, but it also allows us to embed audio and video so it will do a lot more than you can do with paper. 4. Is there anyone else involved in the start up of this magazine? We’ve got a great line-up of columnists: Tee Morris, author of Podcasting for Dummies … Shel Israel, Co-author of Naked Conversations…Paul Colligan co-author of The Business Podcasting Bible … Rob Walch, co-author of Tricks of the Podcasting Masters. And I’ve got a couple more that we’re still negotiating with that will be very exciting. We’ve also partnered with an exciting new association the International Blogging and New Media Association (IBNMA) to be their official publication. 5. How can readers benefit from reading your magazine? We’re the magazine for “aspiring new media titans”…so we should be a monthly must-read for every serious blogger and podcaster. 6. What is your mission statement? We don’t have anything formal, fancy and framed. We’re a very simple magazine with a very simple goal – Help bloggers & podcasters get rich and famous. That’s it. Larry Genkin Publisher Thanks, Larry! We all look forward to reading your new magazine! I love the simple yet professional style in creating the magazine! Happy Blogging! -Nicky
